What do you wear when it's windy and showery, cold but not freezing? The answer is a gilet (or 'Vest' to our US friends). At times wind proof, shower proof, super light or utilitarian and worn over a jersey and base layer, a gilet is without a doubt a rider's best friend on the road. More >>
A versatile option!
If you have always worn a jacket instead of a gilet with some arm warmers, then we would certainly recommend that you give it a try. Jackets have their place of course, but a gilet is so very versatile, whilst the freedom of riding with your arms unrestricted is very nice. Indeed, many cyclists like climbing mountains whilst wearing a gilet. If the temperature rises, one simple unzip and it is balled up and put in the rear pocket of the jersey. Doing this whilst riding is of course a skill that has to be learnt, but what is life without the occasional crash into a thorny shrub? Once atop the mountain and having surveyed the now conquered gradient, pop the gilet back on and grab your arm warmers, and you can descend at speed without getting cold.
Which Gilet is for me?
In order to choose your cycling gilet, just take a few minutes to think about what you require from it. Windproof, waterproof, packable? Our product descriptions should point you in the right direction and make certain that you ride away with the ideal gilet. Remember, don't forget to check out the 'Rider Reviews' where applicable on the product pages to see what your fellow rider thinks of his or her purchase. Less >>
