 Verastile in urban commuting

The Buff Reflective is very protean, and therefore very useful on daily urban bike rides. I have mainly used it as a neckerchief, but also as a scarf and bandit. It may not be the warmest thing in the world, but at least I feel more safe while riding through winter-waiting city. It feels nice against skin, too.

Pretty much as expected: it's a buff with a reflective stripe. Four stars rather than five because the material is thinner than my previous buff and so doesn't quite keep off the chill as much as the last one. They should do a version of this with the polartec collar - that'd be perfect.

a must peice of kit for these cold months... the refective strip looks great and will help you be seen... it dries remarkably quickly and it doesnt leave your face wet and cold...

I like this buff. I have black and it fits to every color of other clothes. It helps me to be warm now in October.

Effective neck warmer, fairly soft on the skin. I chose the black with white stripe one, because it fits neatly with my Rapha apparel, for connoisseurs.

In my time as a cyclist I've always seen people wearing Buffs and even read/heard the occasional rave review, but it was never a product I felt a compelling need to own. After 12 years on fat tyres, I developed an interest in tarmac and ovals around 18 months ago, and in pushing myself harder physically found a need for a garment that would keep my neck warm without overheating my body. The Buff seemed the obvious choice, allowing a selection of whatever garment is appropriate for the torso and giving a bit of insulation round the neck, and whatever parts of the head you choose to cover with it - if you're into the 'snood' thing. The material is very soft and comfortable. After such a long time on MTBs, getting used to the position on drops hasn't been without it's challenges and I have suffered with some neck pain. However, with the Buff keeping those muscles warm that's been much less of an issue. And it doesn't seem to get too smelly either - it'll do a few rides before needing a wash. Bonus. The reflective strips aren't too intrusive, and you never know, might just help save your life.What's not to like? Thoroughly recommended.
