Safety, comfort and style - three things that any cyclist should look for when buying a new cycling helmet. The Catlike Whisper Plus Helmet is a perfect example of this mantra, offering the rider, whether the hard training roadie, trail rider, or stylish commuter, an ideal helmet for their ride.
In terms of safety, the Catlike Whisper Helmet incorporates the Spanish brand's CES (Crash Energy Splitter) technology. This system is integral to the helmet, as all 39 of the ventilation holes have been specifically designed so that any impact will be split over the whole helmet, absorbing the force in the most efficient way. Catlike's In Mold manufacturing process in which the outer and inner shells become a single piece, also assists in diffusing the energy of an impact, and again, furthering safety. For comfort, the Whisper Plus is regarded as one of the most comfortable cycling helmets on the market, helped in no small part by the MPS (Multi Positioning System), which allows the rider to adjust the rear part of the helmet both up / down, and open / close. Worn by countless Pro Cyclists and Pro Tour Teams, the Catlike Whisper Plus Helmet is an excellent choice for your head.

![]() Catlike is a Spanish company that was started by ex-pro rider, Pep del Ramo. Pep's idea was to offer top notch cycling helmets to his fellow rider so that they could race faster and safer; an ideology that is still very much in existence today, and helped by direct feedback from Catlike Pro Cyclists like Thor Hushovd and Samuel Sanchez. Incredibly popular amongst both road and trail cyclists alike, Catlike's stand out products are undoubtedly the Whisper and Whisper Plus Helmets. ![]() You’ll have seen the distinctive shape of the Whisper Plus on the heads of riders from Euskaltel Euskadi and Cervelo Test Team, amongst others, with more than one podium appearance. The Whisper Plus doesn’t just grace the heads of such august names as a marketing freebie though. Its design has been finely tuned over the last few seasons through working closely with the riders themselves, taking on board their feedback and tweaking and tweaking the design until it squeaks. At 290g for a size medium, the Whisper Plus isn’t as light as some helmets on the market at the moment, especially at this kind of price. Its main goal, however, is to offer an optimum balance between safety, ventilation and weight, and as such it does a good job. Certainly, as soon as you put the Whisper Plus on, you’re aware of the air flowing through the 39 separate intakes across the helmet that give it its trademark ‘look’, keeping comfort at a max no matter how hot the weather. Having long hair, I personally find overheating can be a problem, yet this helmet allowed sufficient airflow to cool even my hot head. If I have a concern about the venting, it’s the insect risk of so many large forward facing vents with no mesh liner of any kind. That said, the huge vents at the back should allow anything to escape anyway! Unless it gets caught in your hair….. The fit of the helmet was a little fiddly to fine tune, based on a fairly standard strapping arrangement and sliding gripper at the back, but even before adjustment, the helmet cradled my head securely, inspiring confidence. A neat Velcro fastening padded roll can be adjusted to make the under chin strap more comfortable. You’d not want to have to adjust the strapping or fit on the fly. Choosing my usual size, the Whisper Plus fitted well, although at the absolute smallest it would adjust to. It would definitely be worth trying one on before buying if you’re borderline between sizes. The Whisper Plus is CE certified following the usual safety tests. Its CES (Crash Energy Splitting) technology ensures impact force is evenly spread across the whole helmet, which is also helped by the venting pattern. All in all it should keep your noggin as safe as any other helmet. The Whisper Plus comes in enough colour options to please even the pickiest rider. And if you have a penchant for team strip, then fill your boots. A protective case is also available as an extra. Verdict Hard to find fault with this well ventilated and comfortable helmet, even at this price. It inspires confidence and looks great too - 8/10 If you have bought this product, why not write a review and help other riders to make an informed choice. Just click here.

Just bought my second Catlike Whisper Plus, as the older one is pretty skanky from wearing through the winter months! Great lids - light, fit well (ever for my giant head), and look good too...
True to size

For someone with a square head and with a tendency to overheat finding the right helmet is not easy. There are a few Giro helmets that do but this is best fitting helmet that I've ever tried. My teenage son, with a different shaped head says it fits fine too and by the way can he just use it so it clearly is cool from a teenage perspective. By the same token it's also cool for an old git like me. And it's cool in terms of its ventilation. It's so cooling in fact that you'll need to make sure you can get a hat or buff under it for the winter, particularly if you're as bald as I am.

I was a giro atmos (med) owner prior to this helmet and while the atmos is good this one fits my head better and feels more solid! The air flow through the helmet is great. I have a 58cm head and went for the medium which was spot on for me. It is very light and "disappears" when riding. Viva Catlike!

One of the few hemets available in a range of sizes to give a perfect fit without using lots of foam inserts. An excellent hemet that looks good and feels comfortable. Well worth the money!
