Riding hard into the wind, tackling fast, exposed descents or simply setting out for the day in less than ideal weather conditions, the Craft Active Extreme WS Base Layer is an ideal first layer to protect against the wind, retain warmth and regulate ride temperature.
Pairing the Active Extreme fabric with Gore Windstopper fabric across the body and shoulders makes sure that, where it's needed, the wind protective properties shut out chill winds, whilst leaving less critical areas like the arms, back and sides to function as a normal base layer to regulate temperature. Paired solely with an outer jacket, the Craft Active Extreme WS Long Sleeve Base Layer is ideal for cold season club runs, sportives or training rides.

This is amazing. I'm normally a small in Crafts ultralight meshy baselayers, but went medium with this and it's perfect (170cm, ~64kg, broad shoulders/back). Not too long or short, comfortable, warm, breathable, windproof where it counts (particularly protecting the clavicles). Worn under a summer jersey it was warm enough at 6 degrees, and not too warm at 11 degrees (working quite hard). Expect it to perform well under a winter jersey, the windproof panel doing the job of the winter weight gilet I used to wear. Craft are the overlords of baselayers at the moment.

Does what it says...

Only worn this a few times but it certainly is windproof and does a good job under non-windproof outer garments like winter jerseys etc. God news is that its pretty thin and no bulkier than a normal warm baselayer, and it doesnt feel like wearing a plastic bag!
Its not quite as stretchy and soft feeling as a merino base, as you might expect and sizing is perhaps a slight bit on the small size if anything - I'd be a M in many jerseys and an XL in anything Italian, and a L was what I needed in this for a good fit.

The only baselayer for me
Size comment: "True to size"
Bought one of these, as I like Craft kit, to see if the windstopper front panel made a difference. Since it arrived it has become the only baselayer I wear on a wintery morning ride. Unlike other baselayers I own you do not overheat whilst climbing but it still stops the windchill on your chest whilst riding in freezing temperatures and descending at 40mph. I will be buying another one for next winter.

Winter Essentials

This is the second one of these I've bought as I find they don't cause over-heating but do reduce windchill on faster rides. Just this and a soft shell fronted jacket and I'm fine at 0degC and 20mph head winds. Very comfortable too.

Great for the winter

I've slowly been accumulating a range of Craft gear because of its quality and this baselayer is up there with the best. Medium fit is snug but not too tight. This garment is so effective against the cold that I have taken to wearing it for non-cycling events too, yet it never gets too hot or clammy when wearing it. Highly recommended.

Got an in depth product question, or want to ask something else related to this product? Whatever your question, simple post it here, and we'll answer you faster than a speeding bullet.craft sizingCraft's sizing is very Swedish, which means the size sets are very realistic, and not at all like the very small Italian brands. With Craft, a large is indeed a large. The only exception is the Elite range, which is a pure race fit, and which depending on your cycling style, one you may wish to size up for.
*For an accurate glove size, please measure around your palm, placing it flat and making sure to exclude the thumb (don't chop it off), then compare your measurement to the chart above. If it's a close call, go one size up or down depending on the result.
