The website for the Leopard Project can be visited here: http://www.leopardtrek.lu/ ![]() I've been thoroughly impressed with Craft's winter products to date, and the Tempest gloves have become a stalwart in my cold weather attire. This recent cold snap has exceeded their capability however, so it was time for a switch to the company's chunky Siberian gloves. A three-layer construction is used, with the outer shell a stretchy wind-resistant material which offers an exceedingly good barrier against the cold wind. Sandwiched in the middle is a polyester shell to provide warmth and the lining is a soft fleece affair.
Craft call these their 'warmest glove to date' and they aren't kidding. A spell in minus 3-5 degrees this week did leave my finger tips shivering in the very early stages of a ride, but they soon warmed up, following which a constant and comfortable temperature was maintained. Importantly, I never experienced excessive heat build-up.
They may be big gloves fit is good such that when riding there's little compromise in grasping the bars or working the brake levers and gear shifters. There's a swathe of silicone dots across the synthetic leather palm and on the index and fore finger for increased dexterity.
A large 2in cuff is expandable and easily slipped over a thick winter jacket and two under layers, and a small micro-Velcro tab clamp it down into place. And for sufferers of a runny nose in this cold weather, there's a huge expanse of towelling on the thumb.

Overall very comfortable, well made gloves - not at all bulky. On an average 20 minute commute my hands stay warm, but in very cold weather (sub 3°), on longer rides, fingers start to go numb after about 30-40 minutes!

Having used the Siberian for the past 2 cold seasons, my feelings haven't changed form when I first slipped them on. Well made, very warm, and not as bulky as some other so called winter gloves, that do not provide the same warmth. The clarino palm is very nice, and the reflective areas are actually very useful when you indicate to turn left or right. Very pleased, and would replace them tomorrow if I lost them.

I'm surprised at the number of high ratings for these.
Bought a pair of these last year; with Siberian in the name you would expect them to be really good in the cold.
However like others here I found that they are not as good as expected (or as hoped for). First really cold morning this week and I've had to wear inner gloves again to help keep my hands warm.
More disappointingly they have started to fall apart with the seams and/or material coming apart on one finger so have had to use gaffer tape to hold them together. Would have expected them to have lasted longer than just one yesr to be honest. I've found just as good quality and effective gloves from discount supermarket.
My advice: Don't buy these, look at something else.
by Howard Botting from United Kingdom on 18/11/2011
I always find Craft winter gloves great and these are no exception. I would recommend them. They are warm and comfy.
by Vincent MILESI from France on 30/10/2011
Gloves very comfortable, which are heated while not impeding the speed control (levers).
by Athanasios Papathanasiou from Greece on 19/08/2011
its summer but i just bought these gloves ! it looks great, very light and not bulky. The only problem i think is that the bottom end is a little tight so is difficult to wear it, maybe i needed XL instead of L but the finger area is ok !
Alwaysriding sent me wrong colour :(

Great fit!
by Richard Gaskill from United Kingdom on 26/01/2011
I bought these gloves on recommendation from a friend. They're a comfortable, snug fit, not at all bulky and very warm. I recommend using them only in very cold weather or you hands will sweat. In the Strathpuffer 24hr they did the job. Thumbs up!
by Fred Green from United Kingdom on 23/01/2011
I had expected these gloves to be bulky. They are not at all. The fit is good and they work well in cold weather. They are well made and comfortable to wear. I have other winter gloves but these are easily the best. Highly recommended.
by Huw Davies from United Kingdom on 16/01/2011
High quality construction. However, disappointing performance below around 5C I have to wear inner gloves. Below 0C and my hands become intolerably cold.
by matthecat from United Kingdom on 14/01/2011
Good gloves. I've done -3 degrees in them and been OK. Absolutely fine when the temperature is hovering around zero. My only gripe is with the velcro fastner which doesn't always close properly - a few reviewers have mentioned this. As a comparison, the Sealskin All Weather gloves seem more durable (and waterproof) but are not as warm as the craft.
by Riderman from Germany on 13/01/2011
Comfortable, windproof and for me ideal at temperatures about 5°C/40°F. AT lower temperatures about 0°C/32°F good enough for 2h-rides, afterwards it begins to become cold
by Anton Lukanowski from Germany on 02/01/2011
Gute Ware. Guter Deal.
Die Funktion muss sich noch zeigen. Es war noch nicht so kalt.
by Vince Potter from United Kingdom on 01/01/2011
We have had a particuarly harsh extreme winter 2010, here in the UK. And I did one Cyclo cross race in -9 with my old gloves!! Never Again. My hands where numb!! CUE Craft Siberian Gloves, from Always Riding. They are fantastic, used them in -6 in another Cyclo cross race and training since I got them, kept my hands toastie, honestly, really good!! Very keen Cyclist, and Paramedic.
by Simon Jaeger from Germany on 30/12/2010
Thats is my second Craft Bike Siberian Gloves which I bought. This time as a present. I gave it first time 5 stars, now only 4 because the naps on in inside for better grip wears outs quickly. But it still a very good glove which I use a lot also for cross-country-skiing.
by Jonathan Morgan from United Kingdom on 28/12/2010
Really nice gloves, especially given that the price is very reasonable. And you can happily wear them off as well as on the bike. Look nice too. They drop one star for having slightly - but only slightly - shorter fingers than i'd ideally like for riding (i like some gap at the end), but they fit just fine. I'd recomend.
by keith phillips from United Kingdom on 25/12/2010
comfotable ,good fit well finished ,riding at -1 and not quite warm enough on thier own
by keith armour from United Kingdom on 21/12/2010
Very comfortable and the grip on brakes and handlebars is excellent care of the silicon grips. I really tested these out in temperatures of about -3 last week and in terms of warmth these gloves are ok but not exceptional. However, I wore them with undergloves and then my fingers remained warm enough whilst cycling in snow and ice for 3 hours. Normally I am a medium but bought large to allow use of undergloves too. All in a good glove, but do wear undergloves when it is freezing and below.
by Tyson Douglas from United Kingdom on 20/12/2010
Probably should go for a size bigger than you need.
I was major excited when product was delivered. that didn't last long. By day two of JUST WEARING them, the seem had come undone about a 1cm on one of the fingers AND on half of the wrist velco. If thats not poor quality I do not know what is
by Fred Green from United Kingdom on 18/12/2010
Very well made and of a much lighter construction that I was expecting so they are not bulky to wear. Well made and good at keeping your hands warm. A very impressive product and very much recommended.
by Cliveq Cohen from United Kingdom on 16/12/2010
I spent a lot of time researching gloves & on the quality / price trade-off are possibly as good as you'll find. I'm v.sensitive to the cold, I've to try these at near zero, would say they just about block out the cold, but not cold proof. I'd now recommend a size up on your normal and use a merino wool inner costing less than a tenner from a motorbikers store. That combination should give a total block-out. Functionally the Crafts certainly score on flexibilit.
by Mark Carey from United Kingdom on 14/12/2010
Deceptively light-weight,well fitting and live up to the expectations of the reason for buying them to avert numb hands ! If never the less a little pricey ?
by martin steele from United Kingdom on 13/12/2010
Good quality warm winter gloves. Yet to try them in really cold conditions but, I'm sure I'll get the chance soon. Sizing comes up a little small so I opted for large (I'm usually medium). Not as thick as I was expecting but this make changing gears & braking trouble free.
by Stephen White from United Kingdom on 12/12/2010
Really disappointed with these gloves. I'd previously worn Gore Goretex gloves which were superb at keeping my hands warm but fell apart quite quickly. Looking for new gloves, I was seduced by the name Siberian and the fact that Craft are a Swedish company, I thought they'd know something about producing a really good winter glove. Reading all the favourable reviews on this site and particularly the Roadcycling UK one I decided to buy a pair. With the recent winter weather I've had plenty of chance to try them out. These gloves should have 'mild' before the winter. I agree with Lokesh, 5 degrees is about their limit. For warmth there really is no substitute for bulk, something these gloves lack. My Gore gloves were twice as thick as these but in no-way hindered the use of the controls on my road bike. The fit of the glove is far more important than bulk. If the fingers are too long changing gear is a pain. If they are too short your fingertips will freeze. Saying all that, the gloves seem really well made. I like the fact there is no thick padding on the palm so you get a good feel of the bars, and that the thumb and forefinger are reinforced (essential if you ride mainly on the hoods). Apart from better insulation the one part of the glove that needs improvement is the velcro wrist tab. The hard velcro hooks are on the glove and if this is not covered completely with the tab they tend to catch on your cycling top. This could easily be rectified by Craft by either putting the tab on the outside of the wrist or reversing the velcro and putting the soft part on the glove with the harder hook part on the tab.
by Tym Burman from United Kingdom on 07/12/2010
Superb 'warm enough' glove for COLD conditions, XLs have enough space for liners when the mercury really plummets. One problem with other insulated gloves that these don't have is that the insulating liner stays in place when you pull them off. A mega bonus if you are using these suckers twice a day to get to work and back or if (perish the thought) you have to be more dextrous to repair a flat out on road or trail. Get some and ride happy!
by Lokesh Suraparaju from United Kingdom on 05/12/2010
Disappointed with the purchase. It is probably OK for not so cold days, not useful if it is less than 5 degrees.
by Simon Jaeger from Germany on 05/12/2010
I did not used them for biking yet but two weeks now for cross country skiing here in Germany (until -6 Degree). Much warmer than they look like and not bulky at all. Very good value for money - as usual from craft.
by Beyiker from United Kingdom on 03/12/2010
Both these gloves after high recommendation on the reviews and as i suffer from cold hands from riding was looking forwad to enjoying warm hands during the winter. The gloves are fine in mild winter weather but anything really below zero and they struggled to keep my hands warm.
Pluses are the reflective parts, the fit and comfort.
Negative - don't do to well in really cold weather and the velcro on the wrist pulls the stictching out easily!!
by Martin Brocklehurst from United Kingdom on 30/11/2010
These gloves keep my fingers warm now the temperature is falling. Just what i need from winter gloves.
by Andreas Rennekamp from Germany on 09/11/2010
Warm, warm, warm. Best gloves I ever had!
by J_K from Finland on 08/11/2010
These are great gloves. I usually suffer badly with cold hands, but not with these gloves.
by LEK from United Kingdom on 08/11/2010
I have raynauds-where your veins close up in response to the slightest cold, which is very sore in the winter and only way to stop it is to keep hands in pockets-obviously not very handy for biking.
Used these this morning and absolute bliss, hands warm for 40 minutes at about 5C in the howling rain and wind. Cannot recommend highly enough.
by habs from Denmark on 08/11/2010
Fantastic set of gloves, warm and comfortable. What's important for me is that the garments still look and feels good after several times in the wash, and as all Craft products, these gloves does the job. By far the warmest (below 0C) set of gloves that I have owned, and even well isolated still allows good control of your bike.
by Matthew Soley from United Kingdom on 31/10/2010
What's to be said that hasn't already? Great gloves and good down to zero degrees. I don't like to feel claustrophobic(!) in bulky winter gear and these, like the windstopper hat are great for making you feel you're not a big bulk of uncontrollable bicycle in the colder months. I wear a L in the Performance Mitt and bought L in these which is just right with a little room to wiggle fingers so that they feel like they're yours. Mine went very soggy when I got caught in the rain but as they are not designed for the rain it would be unfair to knock a star off. Brilliantly softly comfy from Craft again.
by Jason Varley from United Kingdom on 23/04/2010
If you are looking for glove to wear down to zero degrees and still feel like you can control the bike then you have found them. I was searching for a long time for gloves that could handle the real cold. Even try two pairs but still the cold got through. These are probably as good as you will get and certainly make cold weather riding more pleasurable (if that exists!)
by Jill Hitchenor from United Kingdom on 14/03/2010
I suffer with really cold hands and these gloves have kept my hands toasty warm through the Winter. I'm a small female and the XS small were just right for my petite hands. The padding on the palm could have been a bit thicker, but I only noticed this after about 4 hours riding, so not really a problem!
by Liam Simington from United Kingdom on 10/03/2010
Great gloves, really warm. I have not needed any other gloves when using thes except on the coldest of days and then a pair of merino inners worked a treat. I hate the clunky feel of oven glove thicker gloves and these are fitted and give great control on brakes and shifers. Top product.
by Kevin Perry from United Kingdom on 02/03/2010
Great pair of cloves - very comfortable, very warm, however, there is no room for doubt over size: I normally wear medium, so I ordered medium - they are just about mediums. At this size I would probably have gone for a large, but there were none left in stock, so it is purely academic - shows how popular they are though. They are extremely effective, particularly because the cuffs overlap your sleeve on the outside rather than the inside with most other winter gloves for roadies. There is enough movement in the fingers to allow satisfactory operation of brakes, gears and particularly computer. I never ride in the rain in winter (soft roadie, I'm afraid) so I can't comment on their effectiveness when wet. All in all just what the doctor ordered - at the right price, too.
by Mackers from United Kingdom on 18/02/2010
Awesome glove best i have had yet. Kept me warm in minus 5, sleet and rain. One tip is to get em on 5-10mins before leaving, let the heat build then they're super warm. Wear an inner on really cold days, toasty. Very happy.
by Tomi Häkkinen from Finland on 17/02/2010
These are very comfortable and warm gloves even at -15 celsius temperatures. Looks nice as Craft's equipments always.
by lee_meisai from United Kingdom on 10/02/2010
Although I've been quite impressed by the quality of these gloves and thought i'd finally found the winter gloves i'd been looking for, the last few cold rides home (0°c and -2°c tonight) have proven that they're not. After 20 mins of cycling I got the familiar numb fingertips which I was hoping to avoid from the description and other reviews. Looks like I haven't found those gloves yet.
by Adrian Davis from United Kingdom on 05/02/2010
The best winter gloves I had yet, even when wet your hands stay warm. The padding on the palm is super comfy. Cuff is just the right length to stop the wind from traveling up your sleeves. The reflective logo on the middle finger comes in handy too.
by bennyboy from United Kingdom on 04/02/2010
All i wanted was a pair of gloves that keep my fingers warm.... finally i've found a pair! Great pair of gloves been on a couple of below zero rides and so far no issues at all, find them really comfy especially like the cuff (very easy to get over jacket). If there was one thing i could improove it would be to have a bit more padding on the palm.....A great product...
by Michael Turner from United Kingdom on 22/01/2010
Used for the first time last weekend, bitter cold wind! thanks to these gloves, my hands were comfortable. Apart from Lobster mitts, I would say they are the best winter gloves I have tried.
by Airone from United Kingdom on 21/01/2010
Very comfy and snug, first time I did not feel the cold while out riding in winter, even without the silky under gloves I usually wear under my wind proof gloves. I have tried them in the snow (yep, building a snowman) and clearly, the inside is not so water proof, but then that's not what they're made for, so it's OK, and despite the wet coming in from the inside, my fingers remained warm. Fabulous purchase, one of my best purchases in a long time.
by Simon from United Kingdom on 18/01/2010
Great product, the best winter glove I've found to date. I also like the fit and the longer than normal cuff, reflective branding is also a nice touch.
by dip from Austria on 13/01/2010
very good quality, very warm and suitable for wintersports, I also used them to go sledging and winter hiking in alps. But as all to often "made in china".
by SAWBO from United Kingdom on 11/01/2010
THESE GLOVES ARE FANTASTIC. I'VE BEEN OUT FOR 3 OR 4 HOURS IN TEMPERATURES HOVERING AROUND ZERO AND THEY HAVE BEEN AS WARM AS TOAST. ALSO THEY WICK VERY WELL, SO THE GLOVES DO NOT GET WET AND COLD INSIDE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
by Vic Gregory from United Kingdom on 12/12/2009
This is one comfortable glove, using Crafts sizing it comes up on the snug side no bad thing either. It's well made and has so far kept cold 4 degree rain out without my hands and fingers getting wet or cold.
by MattFrance from United Kingdom on 19/10/2009
I have to say these are probably the warmest gloves I've tried. I haven't had the chance to try them at sub-zero temperatures, but I can well imagine they're going to do the job without doubling up with liners or other gloves.
by David Clitherow from United Kingdom on 13/12/2008
I've tried many different gloves over the years and always really suffered with cold hands on winter rides & commutes. I've ridden with these down to minus 3 with no liners and still had nice warm hands. All I can say is to buy a pair if you suffer with cold hands. They have good palm padding as well to cut down road vibration. Got an in depth product question, or want to ask something else related to this product? Whatever your question, simple post it here, and we'll answer you faster than a speeding bullet.
A problem I''ve always had with winter gloves is the insulating lining being pulled out when taking the glove off. And it\'s very hard to get it back in (if at all). Do these gloves suffer from this? Or are they sewn in? Thanks, Richard
posted by Richard on 10th November 2010
Thanks for the question - actually, the Craft Siberian Glove does not have an inner liner, its warmth comes from the microfibre inner, wind stopper outer and thick construction. However, Craft do make a winter cycling glove that does have an inner liner, and that is the Craft Thermal Split Finger Glove. Having used this glove a lot, I wouldn't say it is difficult leaving the liner inside when you take it off. All you have to do is hold the finger ends and pull, and you will take off the outer and inner at the same time.
Hi,
Do you have sizing specifications? I am doubting between Medium or Large
posted by Herman Speelman on 25th November 2010
Thanks for the question - If you click on the sizing link on the product page, you can see on the Craft Sizing Chart that will appear, the glove sizing guide. Simply measure around your palm, placing it flat and excluding the thumb, then compare this measurement to the chart. Our most popular size is large, closely followed by medium.
How water repellant are these gloves?
posted by Jonathan on 21st November 2011
In short, not very, as that is not really their calling. However, for sheer warmth they are hard to beat.
