The Light Jacket features Craft's highly ergonomic bike specific cut, providing a slim and contemporary fit on and off the bike, and because it is so light, the Jacket can be folded into it's own back pocket for easy storage; a rear pocket that is a useful place to pop an energy bar or gel whilst on the move. For all important breathability mesh inserts in the arm pits provide excellent ventilation, whilst a full length reflective sided YKK zip handles closing duties up front. Onto the all important neck area, and here Craft added a beautifully fine microfibre fleece collar for keeping the rider's neck warm when the wind picks up; a level of comfort aided by the always welcome zipper hood at the front.

Thankfully I have had a couple of opportunities to give it a try, although it is still yet to see a rain shower so I still cannot comment on it’s full armoury... so why bother with the mini review? Well, here’s why - it’s bloody good. I don’t need to tell you lot that I’m a bike tart. Likewise it’s probably fairly clear that this means I like my kit to look good. So far I’ve been wearing this off the bike probably more than I have done on it - I really think this jacket does look good, and it fits really well too. But more about what it’s really designed for eh?... On a sportive on Sunday the start was early and the morning temperature was most autumnal - wanting to stay warm but not wanting to wear too many layers I decided to pull this puppy on and see how it fared. Despite the temperature picking up but still not taking the jacket off until after 80km, I was comfortable the whole time. Warm when I wanted to be, not too hot when the effort increased. Add to that a pretty damn chilly and seriously windy evening spin (my mate pitched up in full length tights!) around Richmond Park where the jacket came along again and the tests it’s had so far have been not insignificant. All I will say is that the vent on the back can get a bit flappy in really strong wind - I believe this is because the vent is quite high on the back, the benefit of this being that your back cools more at exactly the point where it gets hottest, which must be how it regulates your temperature so well. I can live with that. For less than £45 from Always Riding, I reckon this could be one of the best buys of the Autumn / Winter season. Oh, and the little back pocket (that the whole jacket tucks into making it a perfect jersey pocket-sized parcel) is really neat... More later, once I’ve given it a bit more of a run for it’s money. visit Brain Fart Central for more reviews and news from the cycling world » If you have bought this product, why not write a review and help other riders to make an informed choice. Excellent fit , not to loose and does'nt flap in the wind but still stretchy enough to move around in. Keeps the wind at bay with enough venting so you don't get to hot, the jacket is very light and rolls up very small about fist size . The only reason for not getting 5 stars is that the jacket rides up a bit otherwise perfect and an excellent service from alwaysriding .

Excellent product. Lightweight and stash-able. It packs into its own rear pocket if need be, and therefore occupies minimal space. Showerproof, even through quite prolonged and heavy ones and surprisingly breatheable despite constant wear on a long ride. The fit is very good, and the length good in body and sleeves, with minimal flapping at speed. Microfleece at the collar is useful. There could be more reflectite on the rear I felt. Good value.

High recommended regarding the price and the way it folds is amazing.

I'm very pleased with this jacket. It's very useful when the weather is fresh and maybe with wet wind. I've already tried it at 17-18C with Craft Cool Long Sleeve base layer. It was dry and cool. It fits easy into smallest backpack's pocket. Good staff!

This jacket is great, this is the second one i've bought (the first jacket didn't survive a recent crash!) it's the jacket is super light weight, packs up really small to fit in a jersey pocket, the mesh inserts do their job of keeping the air circulating. Its water resistance, not water proof.
by grzecho from Poland on 14/04/2010
Extremely lightweight and comfortable, perfect for colder days or drizzle. Does not absorb water or mud but of course it is not a dress to ride in downpour. Better for mtb (easy to clean)than for a road.Generally fantastic.

Super lightweight and packs up very small.
Only really water resistant but I didn't buy it for wearing on long rides in the rain - I wore it in a heavy shower for about 15 minutes and it kept the worst off but when I got home the shoulders of my jersey underneath were noticably damp. I am thinking a quick spray with some Grangers DWR coating might improve this a bit though.
Windproof and very breathable. Mesh panels on the back of the arms and back keep the air circulating. Not sure I would want to use it in very cold weather though - I notice the air flowing around the back of my arms and in the depth of winter this would be too cold.
Very well cut with a nice snug fit with only minimal flapping in the wind which is surprising considering how thin the fabric is.
My previous lightweight jacket was a Montane Featherlite H2o which is more waterproof but is a terrible fit, flaps a huge amount, has sleeves that are too short and makes you sweat bucket loads so not really much use as a windproof!
All in all a perfect jacket for the jersey pocket to keep windchill off and shrug off a light shower. If you are heading out and it looks like heavy rain is on the cards you will need something different.

super lightweight, packs up so small that it easily fits in a jersey pocket. the mesh inserts also really do their job of keeping the air circulating.
by Thomas Ashford from United Kingdom on 22/01/2010
Very lightweight and packs up small so is not bulky when put into a pocket. Does a great job of keeping you dry and breathes well. I like the microfibre fleece collar for keeping your neck warm too. Excellent product!
by Henk Jansen from Netherlands on 19/11/2009
jacket is very well waterproof, and very small and thus easy to take with you. Only one thing is not so smart, and that is that the pocket in which the jacket folds itself is with the opening upwards so when it rains there is water flowing in this pocket.
