Craft Performance Rain Jacket 2012

One of our top selling waterproof cycling jackets of all time, the Craft Performance Rain Jacket is an ideal option for cyclists looking for a lightweight, perfectly fitted and impressively breathable waterproof for road, trail or commute this season. Light enough to be stowed away in a rear jersey pocket, but not so light as to be too flappy in the wind, the Craft Performance Rain Jacket proves itself to be not only fully wind and waterproof, but highly breathable, (courtesy of the integrated ventilation and enhanced fabric), and cut for a very flattering fit. A reversed front zipper makes it a cinch to pull on mid ride, whilst the large YKK zipped rear pocket is more than roomy enough for a pump, snacks and supplies. In our opinion, this is the ultimate sportive, club run or wet mountain waterproof cycling jacket, and the new enhancements to an old classic have only made it a more compelling product.

Bought this for daily commute to work. Keeps out the rain and wind really well, but can get pretty sweaty. Have been using it in below 5 degrees with a thermal underneath and plenty warm. Excellent fit, no flappy bits and little rubber edges around the trip hold things down well.

Waterproof AND breathable is the holy grail for the cyclist. Balancing the two is always going to be a trade off and each person has their own unique balance. The 2011 Craft Performance Rain jacket is, I reckon, as near to perfection as I'm going to get for the price. It's got all the boxes ticked for me; waterproof, sufficiently breathable and packable.
I've tried a few jackets out now, none are perfect, some better than others in different areas, so I bought this jacket (white for visibility, in medium for my 5'7" 73kg non-whippet frame) more hoping than expecting it'd work for me. I'm really pleased with it, I think I can say my search is over!
I run hot and this jacket handles that well. I can still feel the heat build but, in all seriousness and based on my experiences, this jacket is as good as it gets whilst being waterproof. Normally with genuinely waterproof jackets, I have to open the zip a good way otherwise I overheat. Not so with the Craft, I can keep collar and cuffs done up against the rain without getting wet from sweat.
Fit is a personal thing also, but it's good for me. Sleeves are slightly long for me but the velcro cuffs mean you can close the sleeve comfortably and conveniently around your gloves, leaving no gaps. In effect, no problem. Short of having a tailored jacket (or just luck!), fit is never going to be absolutely perfect for everyone but I can honestly say this jacket fits well. Extended tail length means the jacket doesn't ride up and sits comfortably around top of the backside.
Packable? Yes, it's not 'apple sized' but it will fit in a pocket on a standard, 3 pocket cycling jersey.
I bought this jacket primarily as a packable in the event it rains whilst I'm out. I have other (non-packable) jackets that I wear if it's raining when I start out but I'm so pleased with this jacket that I can see myself wearing this in preference to my more expensive soft shell. It really is that good.

Recently donned this jacket and worked really well in constant medium drizzle - had it on about 2hrs+ and kept on shedding the beads. Fit wise; found it a tad long in the arms (could just be me) and slightly generous (not quite race fit). Also, ordered the white one and the blue colour on the hem and inner collar is not blue but light grey.

AlwaysRiding provided me with one of these jackets for my successful 2,700 mile Tour Divide race in 2011. I had bought a 2010 version of this jacket which was nice enough but not packable in a rear jersey pocket and though waterproof not too breathable. The 2011 version is totally different, waterproof, packable and breathable, excellent value for

Superb jacket - great fit, excellent waterproofness and breathability, would highly recommend - this jacket took everything the Alps could throw at it during the 200 mile Tour du Mont Blanc this summer, and kept me dry throughout. Incredible. If you want to see it in action have a look here: http://vimeo.com/27051487 - note how well the water was still beading up even after miles and miles of rain!

I was looking for a reasonably priced waterproof and windproof jacket which was stowable in a jersey pocket. This jacket meets all of those.
It breathes really well too and folds up to a small size.
On a recent holiday I descended Mont Ventoux in torrential rain and the jacket kept my body dry and help prevent the worst of the wind chill.

Hello,
Is the white version suitable for men or is this a female specific colour/fit? I have seen somewhere else that mentions it is female.
Kind regards,
James

Thanks for the question! Disregard the other place you have seen this or read about it, it is not female specific, but simply the white colour of the men's version.
