Ok, so some of this is down to an incorrect choice of footwear, but take care of your feet and they'll take care of you!
For warmer rides, a good pair of mid to low cut socks that fit snugly without wrinkles around the sole are a must. Man made or merino, it really doesn't matter so much, but a lot of riders go for merino because its ant-bacterial nature helps to resist odours.
