Wearing a baselayer throughout the year is a great idea, as it will help you to stay dry, comfortable and cooler than if you were riding without one. Add a really cold day though and a baselayer is more than just a good idea - it's utterly essential. Nothing wicks like merino as it adapts to your body temperature, helping you to stay cool on the climbs and warm on the descents. An added bonus is that because merino is naturally anti bacterial, you can ride and ride even if you forget to wash it, because you aren't going to smell.

The Ibex baselayer in long sleeve is made of incredibly soft 18.5 micron sustainably sourced New Zealand merino wool, and back in the USA is an Ibex essential, having received so much bike rider praise that you'd think it came with a free life long chocolate supply.  We hate to disappoint, but we're pretty sure that after one ride this season it may just become your most used cycling garment.
