The Tectal provides good ventilation and head protection combined with a low weight, and is primarily designed with trail and enduro race riders in mind. The Tectal incorporates some nice design features from other helmets in POC’s range, including the unibody shell construction used for the popular Octal road helmet, which enhances the safety and strength of the helmet, as well as the aramid fibre reinforcement used in the Trabec MTB helmet to enhance structural stability whilst keeping weight to a minimum.
Things we particularly like about POC helmets generally include their light weight, the extra protection around the temples and back of the head (areas which are more vulnerable in a crash) and, importantly, their comfort - no two heads are the same but there a lot of riders out there who find POC helmets an extremely comfortable fit. Their low weight and well researched ventilation system also help a lot in this respect too (POC use wind tunnel testing to make sure the ventilation of their helmets is effective). The Tectal is a new addition to the POC cycle helmet range and offers greater coverage, lower weight and larger vents than the brand’s Trabec MTB helmet.
