In my time as a cyclist I've always seen people wearing Buffs and even read/heard the occasional rave review, but it was never a product I felt a compelling need to own. After 12 years on fat tyres, I developed an interest in tarmac and ovals around 18 months ago, and in pushing myself harder physically found a need for a garment that would keep my neck warm without overheating my body. The Buff seemed the obvious choice, allowing a selection of whatever garment is appropriate for the torso and giving a bit of insulation round the neck, and whatever parts of the head you choose to cover with it - if you're into the 'snood' thing. The material is very soft and comfortable. After such a long time on MTBs, getting used to the position on drops hasn't been without it's challenges and I have suffered with some neck pain. However, with the Buff keeping those muscles warm that's been much less of an issue. And it doesn't seem to get too smelly either - it'll do a few rides before needing a wash. Bonus. The reflective strips aren't too intrusive, and you never know, might just help save your life. What's not to like? Thoroughly recommended.
