SIZE FEEDBACK

Style over substance, perhaps
Size comment: "Runs large"
I agree that these come up slightly large. I have a pair of road shoes and a pair of 'traditional' mountain bike SPDs both of which fit perfectly at size 45. These are definitely loose around the heel. That said, if I was looking for performance I'd either be taking my road bike out or using my other SPDs. These were bought for Sunday rides with the wife and summer commuting, and a slightly loose fit is no big issue in that context. If we get a proper summer this year, I'll probably appreciate a bit of extra air around my feet.
More importantly they look great. I've been looking for ages for some cycling shoes that don't look obviously like cycling shoes and these certainly fit the bill. Nice sticky soles as well, so they work just was well with the pinned flat pedals on my trail bike as they do with the SPD pedals on my commuter.
However, as I said, I already have two other pairs of cycling shoes and both those pairs (one of which cost less than half what these cost) were supplied with cleats. So for these to come without cleats at this price is more than a little disappointing, especially when the photograph shows them with cleats attached.
I'm looking forward to getting some good use out of these shoes and not standing out as a cyclist when off the bike, but half a star knocked off for the inaccurate sizing and at least a star off for having to go back out and spend an extra tenner on a pair of cleats. Shame, really.
