Bought this predominantly for my commute to work. First impressions are good - excellent wind resistance and water beading. On a +2 / +3 degree day this was fine with just a merino base layer underneath (I generally feel the cold). I'd say the fit is slightly on the small side - I'm 6 ft 0 in, around 40 chest 33 waist and usually go for Medium in most things. Although I settled on the Medium here too, it is snug in a "fitted" sort of way but sleeve length perfect. I did try the Large, and although the length was ideal, it was slightly too baggy round the chest / midriff.
On the bike the dropped jacket tail is great and doesn't ride up. The ipod port / pocket is useful when routing headphone cables - there's even a little loop inside the jacket near the top of the zip to feed the cable through. The hood does not fold away but isn't obtrusive and doesn't flap about while riding (being a soft shell there's none of the "plastic bag / rustling" associated with other waterproofs in any case). Adjustable cuffs (two positions) keep the draught out. The thumb loops are a bit gimmicky and not of much use especially if wearing gloves, but they don't detract in any way.
It could be my PC monitor, but the colour (bark brown) is a bit lighter in the flesh than the website pictures - nicer in my opinion, and a welcome change from black / grey.
I have to mention the excellent service provided by the guys at Always Riding. This was my first purchase and it couldn't have gone any better. Having had the aforementioned sizing dilemma I ordered a Large too before making my final decision on the Medium. I mentioned that I really needed it for the weekend and the team went the extra mile by shipping special delivery to make sure. Refund on the returned Large was processed swiftly. Much appreciated!
