![]() Solo cycle clothing was formed by two friends who loved the styles worn by the pro-riders of the 1950's - 1970's. Simple, powerful designs which demonstrated that less is more. They searched worldwide for clothing that had the flair and emotion of that age. Nothing existed. It was then that they realised that there must be other cyclists who felt the same. So the two friends decided to put their cycling and design backgrounds to good use and create something special: cycle clothing that made you want to ride - rain or shine. Taking their inspiration from the great riders, grand tours, equipment and cycling culture of that golden era, Solo's mission is to produce the most beautiful cycling jerseys in the world - jerseys made for like-minded souls. We think they've succeeded. Just like those classic jerseys, Solo jerseys are about more than wearing a sponsors logo on your chest. Each jersey has a story to tell - your own story of epic rides, punctures, road grit, stinging rain in the eyes and sweeping downhill in warm winds. Solo believe that cycling culture is much more than crossing the finish line first. It is about ethics, determination, companionship, spirit, honour, mystery and brotherhood. It is about how you feel heading home after spending the day on your bike. Or the post-training espresso with cycling friends who have shared the hardship of the road.

This is a stylish and highly visible gilet. You get large reflective logos on both the front and rear and reflective strips run the length of the zip, around the armholes and across the lower back. Have been out a few times in my new Solo Gillet , Lightweight ,but it blocks the wind and keeps me warm ! what more can i say , excellent piece of kit .
by Phillip Hopkins from Australia on 21/08/2011
the quality of these product are amazing. Just watch the sizing. I use a large jersey but with the gilet I think i could have used the size up. Always Riding are a great group, very attentive to this aussie buyer

Have it now for 2 seasons and I really like it and it is my only thin gillet I use - no need for another product. Good value!

Another great quality item from solo. Nicely finished and great fit.
by 42x16cc from Australia on 16/11/2010
top quality and finish, as expected from solo. Fit is a little more snug than my original version, but no need to revise the size, just suck the gut in a bit more...
by dip from Austria on 08/10/2010
very good function and fit, highly visible, good looking but on the old (not on the new one!) solo web side was the statement that the products are made in new zealand and not in a sweet shop of a developing country. The gilet is made in china...

Well fitting and highly packable.
Plenty of reflective material which is not obviously visible on the picture.
Had it on coming off the Tourmalet yesterday. No problems.
by Rich Cassidy from United Kingdom on 22/06/2010
Awesome gillet. Looks great, nice and windproof, highly visible with great reflectivity and ridiculously light. Although it doesn't have rear pockets it does have a really handy zip pocket on the side under the arm just big enough for a some willy wonka and my iphone. I couldn't choose between red or white so I ended up with one of each!
by Theophilus from Australia on 08/05/2010
A fantatsic Gilet at a ridiculously good price. This product is very lightweight so you can stow it easily, and the logo is reflective making it great for those cold, wet nights. Another quality Solo product that will get alot of use.

Having read the other reviews before ordering I must admit to thinking twice. But, I had the money, and already have 2 SOLO jerseys (Maxwell St Neith) I knew the quality wouldn't be an issue. If it wasn't a good fit I could always return it. I needn't have worried, this fits me like it was tailor made for me. The shoulders are perfect (despite reading otherwise from other reviewers - perhaps a different size chaps??). It's long enough at the rear and no, it doesn't ride up above my pockets (another wrong size perhaps?). The collar is nice and high with a lovely soft fleece liner, it's not baggy, it's nice and snug so will keep your neck nice and warm. If I was going to say anything negative it would be that the hidden pocket on the side could be a bit deeper. When you're a food lover like me you'll not be able to cram much in, certainly no room for a pie. To sum up then, this is a superb gilet for the price, it's lightweight, packs down really small and fits (me!) like a glove. If it doesn't fit you then Always Riding have a superb returns service. What have you got to lose?

Performs well and looks great. Found it a tad loose in the shoulders but otherwise a good fit. Recommended.
by cyclovic from United Kingdom on 03/11/2009
Very pleased with the performance of the Gilet, but like others find the fit is a little loose on the shoulders and it's not long enough on the back
by Jonathan Edwards from United Kingdom on 22/10/2009
Looks great - very nicely styled. Light and packs up small. Fleece lined collar is a good touch. Unfortunately the fit could be better - the elasticated waist tends to ride up my back if I'm on my road bike - it eventually settles just above the back pockets on my jersey. Not ideal! On an MTB with a more upright position and a back pack on it works fine

This is a great value piece of clothing. It keeps the wind out, looks good and fits well.

This got a "not so hot" write up in Cycling plus September, but in the previous issue was worn by one of the riders on a night ride to stonehenge. Ignore the September review unless you are looking for a race specific really top end gilet. It was the pictures from the August issue that finally persuaded me to get one. It is a rival to Rapha in the looks stakes and works well on commutes thanks to the reflective logos. It has done sterling work on cooler morning weekend rides as well and is very water resistant so holds showers at bay. Great gilet, the best one I have bought so far.
by Jef Sharp from United Kingdom on 23/10/2008
Giving the Gilet four stars may not reflect how I rate this item totally as I've only had it a short time. It may be a 5 star item you never know - only time will tell. For the moment I am very pleased with the gilet. Solo clothing looks good and it's very well made. All the right bits in the right places. I've been after a cool looking light coloured gilet with reflective hightlights for some time and as soon as I saw the Solo I knew it was for me. As the clocks are about to change and the lights are on the bike I need to be seen when I'm out on my 30 milers after work during the week. Big S O L O reflective lettering on the front and back helps me out there. Perfect.
The service I received from AlwaysRiding.co.uk was second to none. I bought the Medium size but found it slightly to big (I like 'em tight fitting) so I sent it back and within 3 days had my replacement. First ride out and it needed it. It got dark early and very cold as it started to drizzle. It kept my chest warm and dry. My favourite gilet yet.
