Made of 98% cotton with 2% Lycra for ease of movement the swrve jeans come with the same bike-friendly features as found on the swrve shorts; seamless gusseted crotch, articulated knees, a lower front with a slight rise in the back, and back pockets that fit a mini-U lock. An added bonus is the reflective strip on the inside of the right leg that is exposed when you turn up the jeans, keeping them out of the way of the chain and adding a good level of night time visibility.
![]() swrve is a small company producing big products, based in Los Angeles where its founders Muriel and Matt live, work and cycle. swrve came into existence after Muriel and Matt's long search for affordable, stylish, yet functional cycling shorts yielded no results. It's little surprise that their shorts design, which has been honed by experience on and off bicycles, has become the cornerstone of the swrve line. Designed for men and women, they have been cut to perform perfectly when riding and stylishly when not. Features include a seamless gussetted crotch for comfort, articulated knees for better fit on a bike or barstool, low waist in front, high waist at the back, two 6” zippered back pockets, a mobile phone pocket on the side to stay connected, and a stylish trim fit for everyday use. The shorts are cut from a variety of materials for year-round use and activities. The schoeller fabrics, with their realworld resistance to water and ability to deal with perspiration, are great for all sorts of activities: from mountainbiking, downhill stuff and, with their 4-way stretch and close fit, are even pretty handy when rockclimbing. But first and foremost these shorts are practical in any fabric. They have strong, deep pockets that will keep secure the essential stuff most cycling gear fails to give a second thought to: wallet, loose change, keys, phone, gum and anything else that may regularly find its way onto your person. ![]() Jeans are possibly the least suitable trousers for cycling in, what with chaffing seams, heavy material that takes an age to dry and minimal flexibility. Swrve's offering is made with the urban biker in mind. A dash of Lycra makes them move with you, a seamless gusset and articulated knees keeps things comfy and -a reflective strip sewn inside the right leg keeps you visible should you wish to roll up your trouser leg. ![]() These ‘riding jeans’ share most of the same great features of the shorts – though we found the 34 size of the trousers was slightly less figure hugging than the three-quarters. Which is a good thing. These strides will look as good as any designer trews as you sip your flat white coffee in Soho.
Then, when you’re ready to move on, roll up your chain-side trouser leg to avoid your oily fixer’s chain, and you’ll also reveal the high-vis reflective strip on the inside at the back. Genius.

Runs large
by Antte Kaukonen from Finland on 07/12/2011
I've used the jeans quite a lot on my bike and I love the color. However, I found the sizing to be slightly larger than I'm used to (32" waist). Nevertheless, comfortable and stretching fabric makes these quite ideal for city riding.

Very good and comfortable jeans for cycling. Normally I use 33" or 34" waist jeans but 34" is little too baggy for me. The material is high quality and high resistance to washing.
by endego from Italy on 10/01/2011
I simply love this jeans! They are perfect. Just one suggestion: I usually wear 32 inch weist jeans and I ordered this size, but they are a little bigger than other jeans, so pay attention. Maybe you have to choose one size less than your usual jeans size

Fits me perfectly while being comfortable and tough, just a bit pricey for a pair of jeans. I suspect that they'll last way longer than trendy high street store jeans but that's the tradeoff here. Reflector strip is a bit of a gimmick but that's neither here nor there.

First things first. I thought these were pricey but worth a punt the first time I bought them. The fact that the pair I'm reviewing is the second pair I've bought should tell you that they're worth every penny. Don't let the price put you off because these are simply great jeans. They'd be good even if you never threw your leg over a bike, but on the bike they are the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever had. They hold their colour well even after repeated washes and manage to strike that rare balance between hard-wearingness and comfort. I've just had my second pair on for the first time in a fortnight (away for work) and the feeling of putting them on again was enough to bring a smile to my face. Yes, they are that good. I'm 6ft 2 with a 32 waist and the 34 long are just fine, if anything a little too long. And they barely shrink, even when laundered a touch too hot and tumble-dried (although I wouldn't recommend the latter).
Plus: Cut, fabric, colour (goes with almost everything), reflective stripe - bit gimmicky but a nice touch and encourages you to roll up the leg and avoid chain stains. Rear inner pocket's OK for phone or ipod but I don't always use it. Gusset stitching with an extra panel to avoid seams rubbing on the undercarriage is superb. Cut on the newer pair's slightly more relaxed than last year's.
Cons: really minor, but there's no coin / stash pocket in the right front pocket as one gets with regular jeans. If that's important to you. Stitching holding front pockets on gave way on my first pair after a year and a half of very regular use, but worth repairing.
In summary: Worth every penny. Buy.

Right, first impressions, opening the bag I thought I wasn't going to like them as I wasn't initially keen on the look of the denim. Anyway, got them out and tried them on. What a revelation. These are jeans I'll wear for everything. Nice fit, not too skinny like I was worried they
might be. Just a nice slim cut, with room round the thighs and seat to move. Nice little touches with reflective trim. Time will tell on how hardwearing they are, but from other reviews, I've no concerns. Buy them and wear them to death with your favourite slip on Vans.

I bought a pair of swrve jeans a couple of years ago and they were so good I have just bought a new pair. However the new pair feel shapeless and too baggy despite being the same size as my old pair. Therefore quite a disapointment that the cut /style has changed
by BromptonPilot from France, Metropolitan on 28/01/2010
Looks really good, scotchlite strips are smart, fits me (same size scales as Levi's jeans), fabric is really beautiful and it is a satisfying thing to know that fabric is italian made and jean itself is US made. Really comfortable...but I expected no less...
by normaali from United Kingdom on 03/01/2010
These jeans are really comfortable, but mainly because they're quite loose fitting and made of pretty thin material. Mine were labeled "standard fit" and I'm wondering if there's a tighter version around. I don't like rolling up my pant legs in the winter, but when they are this loose it really is a must. Really good for long flights though.

Great jeans that I can ride to work in comfortably and wear all day. Why don't more companies make something similar? Would be 5* if the studs on the back pocket weren't so cheap that they keep catching on things when I sit down (I've now removed them)

Does exactly what it says on the tin: jeans that you can cycle in - with no sore bits. I bought a pair for when I'm popping into town on my bike, & don't want to frighten the locals with my "proper" cycling gear. Have also worn them for longer rides without any ill effects - especially when paired with the Craft undershorts. Sizing is rather generous, I've a 33" waist, so normally go for a 34" - but found them to be way too big. 32" fits just fine. Really good deep blue colour & nicely finished.

I just bought them out of curiosity but have been wearing (and riding) them since they arrived, they are so cool. Nice dark denim with comfy stretch, perfect fit, slim shape. Lots of useful features. No gimmicks. Price very justified for the quality. Got an in depth product question, or want to ask something else related to this product?
