12 Road Cycling Gifts for Under £50
Choose 12 items you'd like to receive as a gift, budget £50; we dived into the warehouse and all emerged with arms full of things we love. Self discipline prevailed and amongst the piles of kit on our desks we (eventually) agreed on 12 items that are both customer favorites and ideal road cycling gifts for any occasion.
Starting at the head the Northwave Tour Sunglasses punch seriously above their price-tag in terms of quality whilst the Cafe du Cycliste Cap is so authentically French it comes in its own Camembert box (also makes wrapping easier!)
It's not just accessories you can get for your £50 - the Castelli Flanders base layer will get serious usage this time of year whilst the soft fabric and comfort of the Howies Slipstream Jersey could make it your lucky recipient's new go-to jersey.
Sportique make a whole range of creams - from treating and preventing saddle discomfort right through to pre-ride warm up balms. Any of these make an ideal gift for the serious road racer. If you don't know the person you're buying for that well, maybe stick to a warm up balm rather than the full on anti saddle sore stuff.
Arm or knee warmers may seem like a strange item to the non cyclist but they are immensely useful. Long rides can start off freezing and end in extreme heat whilst some riders swear by the chamois in their bib shorts and prefer to add a warmer in the colder months. The new Babici Italo Arm warmers, Defeet Armskins or Etxeondo Urri Knee Warmers will be gratefully received - especially at this time of year.
Winter riding can be tough - the cold, wet and wind can make training difficult and commuting a drag. Expensive, high tech performance tights and jerseys can make riding more comfortable but cold, wet feet can ruin a ride. For their relative inexpense the Craft Siberian Bootie gets its name for a reason; it's ready to fend off the worst the winter weather can throw at you.
This one is perhaps a rather specific gift but certainly one that will be well received. Gifts should be things you wouldn't buy yourself and buying a replacement Speedplay Cleat Set for old, coffee shop floor battered cleats is not an attractive proposition. A present that won't set the world on fire but will be one of the most used.
If the road cyclist in your life is kitted out then why not look to the bike, a set of bike lights are great for early morning or evening training rides whist an Arundel Bottle Cage would look superb on any well loved road bike.
