The iconic and legendary Sidi Wire that helped Chris Froome wear yellow has an option for a sole that is ready to take Speedplay Cleats. No need for clunky adaptors, the sole has a 4-bolt interface – which saves 64 valuable grams over an adaptor setup with visibly cleaner lines all round.
Between your foot and the now neatly fitted Speedplay cleat is the Vent Carbon Sole. The interwoven fibres create a stiff platform for spinning and have a small degree of built-in flex at the toe area to relieve pressure on the sensitive plantar tendon. Right at the tip of the sole is an adjustable vent which can be opened and closed ready for both glorious sunshine and when snow is on the ground.
Two Techno 3-Push dials are in charge of fastening, letting the shoe independently conform around the forefoot and instep whilst being easily adjusted on the fly. Each satisfying click of the ratchet lets you know how tight it is and how much more you need to make the fit spot on.
With the forefoot and instep securely held in the place, the heel is also treated with an adjustable heel retention system. Both sides of the heel cup can be tightened independently to make sure shoe and foot move harmoniously whether sprinting for the finish, starting a breakaway or summiting a mountainous peak.
With the fit, the finish and style on offer it’s no coincidence that the Sidi Wire is a regular spinner on both club run and pro-peloton rider alike.
