A wealth of modern US engineering talent has gone into the head gasket. A 2-stage seal provides the necessary grip without a lever chuck and brass smaller parts ensure a lifetime of reliability.
Fitting within the frame is key for any frame pump. Four sizes ensure a good start and FlexWing Silicone bumpers on the head and handle cater for 25mm to 64mm tubing diameters. A further silicone bumper on the main barrel removes vibrations, rattle or noise and also protects your bike's paintwork. This additional bumper doubles as a compression lock to keep the pump in place.
In the 1920s, Silca introduced the Impero frame pump. At a time when professional racing was an unsupported pastime, this was a revolution in roadside inflation. Within a few seasons, 80% of the pro peloton had an Impero on their frame. In fact, the Impero was the most widely used frame pump worldwide for most of the following century thanks to Silca's category leading innovation.
The Silca Impero Ultimate is the modern incarnation of this classic, merging the full aluminium construction of the original pump with high-tech techniques and materials. Durability is key for the Impero Ultimate - after all it will be called on when a ride doesn't go to plan, and a puncture hits. Alcoa Aluminium, hand-machined in Indianapolis, is at the core of this pump, and it is Silca's original Milan supplier that still provides the leather for the Piston - custom made since 1947.
