Description

Description

A re-introduction of the original Vittoria 1976 Shoe by the Vittoria shoe company, the Vittoria Lorica 1976 Cycling Shoe - Look 3-Point Sole model is a beautifully styled, road compatible cycling shoe ideal for relaxed club runs & cafe stop rides.

Made completely by hand in Biella, Italy by Vittoria, the 1976 shoes use Lorica uppers uniquely peppered with air holes for breathability. The sole, which is reassuringly stiff for smooth power transfer, is finished with 3-point Look compatible mounting points.

I wanted a pair of lace up shoes to ride with my late 70s road bike - but wanted them to be SPD-SL compatible. Having had a good look round, I narrowed it down to these and to the Giro Empire - these won on price and retro look.

I am a UK size 9 (probably between a 9 and a 9 1/2 with fairly wide feet) and ordered a size 44 - they are a good fit. As a size comparison, I am a 44 in Shimano and 43.5 in Fizik.

They are comfy and broad enough for my feet. Look good and feel good. I would probably give 5 stars, apart from the fact that the sole is a nylon one and has a "little flex" in it compared to a carbon fibre sole and the price tag is getting into that region.

Good for the commute and been fine on longer 50mile rides too.

This "LOOK 3 point" type is my second Vittoria shoes, I already got the SPD type last year, I like Vittoria good looking and comfortable, and maybe it's most fit for my De Rosa SLX Vintage frame.

I ride in France and most cycling shoes look simply awful and my feet get too hot, these look the part (i got white), plain, classic and holes help. Tuck in the laces though...

The best thing I can say about the 1976s is that I forgot about them during big rides. Didn't notice any sole flex (I am a 61kg climber) and the shoes are only about 30g heavier than the carbon sole option. Good value.

Sizes are small but I ordered 2 sizes and kept the one that fitted best. It actually fitted perfectly. Not made absolutely clear on the web site is the fact that they come with the retro cleats as well which made the purchase even better. Excellent returns service on the smaller pair so well done to the company.
